Spring Break: Sun or Snow?

Options for any weather!
Are you reading this in the back-to-school aisle?
Sorry, I know you're probably fighting for your life at the moment and the school year has barely started, but can I just drop by with some quick Spring Break inspiration?
March and April might feel light-years away, but now is exactly when I want you thinking about those trips, because spring break comes with two teeny tiny complications:
A whole lot of people want to travel at the exact same time, and a whole lot of those people want the exact same rooms, flights, beaches, and ski slopes as you 🙃
So rather than waiting until February to ask me where you can go, let's talk about where you WANT to go while we've still got some options.
First question to ask yourself:
☀️Sunshine or ❄️snow? Because I've got options for both!
SKIING THE ALPS | THE EUROPE PICK
If your ideal spring break requires skis ⛷ rather than swimsuits 🩱, consider taking this show across the pond!
Depending on your dates and conditions, alpine destinations in France or Austria can combine incredible skiing with charming mountain villages, cozy après-ski scenes, and the very satisfying experience of eating fondue after spending an entire day on the mountain.
📌 Perfect For: Experienced ski families ready to graduate from their usual mountain getaway.
RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO | THE SUN & SAND PICK
Want an easy all-inclusive where everyone can scatter to their preferred pool? Done! Want something smaller and more luxurious? That's an option too!
The Riviera Maya also offers cenotes, snorkeling, ruins, and day trips that make it easy to add some adventuring between margaritas on the beach.
📌 Perfect For: Families or groups who want plenty to do without making vacation complicated.
NEW ZEALAND | THE FAR FLUNG PICK
Spring break doesn't technically have to involve spring, you know.
Hop waaaaaay down to the Southern Hemisphere, and you'll land in New Zealand's early autumn, when March can still bring warm days while the peak summer crowds have started to thin out.
This is the spring break for people who want to be active: hike through spectacular scenery, road trip between completely different landscapes, taste your way through wine country during harvest season, or add a little adrenaline in Queenstown.
One caveat: you’re going to need more than a long weekend.
📌 Perfect For: Active families with older kids or couples who have enough time to turn spring break into a proper adventure.
HAWAII OR COLORADO | THE CLOSE-TO-HOME PICKS
Want to keep things stateside? You can still choose your own spring break adventure, no matter what weather you're craving.
Want to chase the sun while avoiding packed Florida beaches? Head to Hawaii and fill your week with beaches, hiking, and snorkeling.
Prefer skiing without the passport piece? Head to one of the many mountain towns in the Colorado Rockies for great dining and plenty of options for anyone who isn't interested in strapping two sticks to their feet and hurtling downhill!
📌 Perfect For: Travelers who want a big spring break without going international.
